IELTS retakes are now available

➡ The option for IELTS retakes has been introduced, allowing individuals dissatisfied with their performance in the English language test to improve their results in specific modules. Previously, candidates were required to retake all four modules to enhance their overall score. This process has now been streamlined with the introduction of the IELTS One Skill Retake.

➡ Designed for those who feel they didn’t showcase their full capabilities in any of the four language skills (Listening, Reading, Writing, or Speaking), the IELTS One Skill Retake provides an opportunity for a single module improvement. This can be availed at designated testing centers offering both IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training.

➡ Booking instructions for the retake are accessible on the official IELTS webpage. The cost of the retake varies by region, necessitating contact with the local test center. The retake must be scheduled and completed within 60 days of the original test, maintaining the format and timing of the chosen skill module. Notably, the other three skills need not be retaken, saving time and effort.

➡ Candidates are allowed only one retake per full IELTS test. Following completion, a new Test Report Form is issued, combining results from the IELTS One Skill Retake and the original test. This provides the choice between the original and new Test Report Form.

➡ As of August 10, the IELTS One Skill Retake is accessible in Australia, Cambodia, India, and the Philippines, with plans for expansion to other countries throughout 2023.

Enhancing Express Entry Scores through Improved Language Test Results

➡ Boosting competitiveness for Canadian immigration, particularly via the Express Entry system, is achievable by attaining higher official language scores. The Express Entry system, which considers language proficiency alongside factors like work experience, education, and age, utilizes a points-based approach.

➡ Many Express Entry candidates aim for a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 9 or higher to earn additional points. This elevated threshold enhances their likelihood of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residency.

➡ In cases where a lower CLB score is obtained in a specific module, the IELTS One Skill Retake offers the potential for a higher score and subsequently more points within the Express Entry system.
